Updates From Our Pastor
April 6th, 2020
Dear Church Family,
I hope you and your family are doing well and staying healthy. Cindy and I miss everyone very much! I would like to give you a few updates for this week.
First, if you would like a "No Fear" Prayer Calendar to help you pray during the current crisis, you can download one here.
Friday’s Drive Thru Food Pantry was able to bless 40 families with an abundance of food while keeping social distancing guidelines in addition to our volunteers wearing masks and gloves. Our food held out for exactly the three hours we were scheduled to be open. I want to thank our volunteers for their frontline service to the Lord during this crisis!
Our Wednesday 7:00 pm Bible Study and Sunday Morning 11:00 am Church Service livestream continue to be well attended! If by chance you missed the Palm Sunday message “Who’s The Boss”, you can view it on our website or Facebook page. It’s real easy to view live on Sundays and Wednesdays. Just go to: www.shorelinechurchakron.com and click on the Livestreaming graphic.
Additionally, I will be live-streaming a Good Friday message at 7:00 pm.
SPECIAL EASTER PROJECT
I would like to make a video montage to be played during our Easter Livestream Service. I am asking you to submit a five to 10-second video clip of you finishing the sentence, “Because the tomb is empty, I…______________”.
You can text your videos to me or email them to the church at: email@example.com or send them to me on Facebook Messenger. Deadline for submissions is Good Friday by Noon. I’m sure everyone will be excited to see each other on Easter even if it only through video!
Due the Ohio Stay-At-Home order by Governor Mike DeWine and President Trump’s extension of the Coronavirus Guidelines through April 30th, it looks like we will not be meeting in person for regular church services until at least Sunday, May 3rd. We will celebrate the Easter season together at the church when this crisis comes to its conclusion. For more information you can read the full Ohio Stay-At-Home Order here. Also, to get the facts on safety practices concerning the coronavirus check out the CDC website for the latest information.
Through this unprecedented time of social isolation, my goal is to provide online content each day to encourage and “feed my sheep”. I am continuing to post short daily devotional videos entitled, “Today’s Encouraging Scripture” which have been met with positive comments online. I will continue to interact with Facebook, instagram and our website to keep our people connected, so stay tuned.
I want to thank the congregation for your efforts to stay in touch with each other. It is going to become an even greater challenge for us to maintain our bond as the weeks pass. But, with our focus placed firmly on God and His promises WE CAN DO IT! Please continue to check in with fellow church members whether by a phone call, social media, email, text, mailing a card, whatever you are moved to do will mean a lot to our fellowship and keep our bond strong in the Lord.
I also want to thank those of you who supported by giving this week. Shoreline, along with all churches and non-profits are being affected the hardest through this crisis. Remember, your tithes and offerings can be mailed to the church or placed in the mail slot next to the mailbox. It will be checked everyday. If you choose, you may do your giving online through our website. If you feel led to provide an emergency gift to Shoreline, we would deeply appreciate it.
We will continue to pray for the health and safety of your families and ask that you also keep us lifted up in prayer through these uncertain days.
God bless you,
Dr. Scott Campbell
